yes, I did

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

then

grub2-install --boot-directory=/boot /dev/sda

no issues reported, but it doesn't fix things.

In rescue mode, I also tried uninstalling are reinstalling the kernel, and no change.

Hi Mike,

By "redid grub" you mean "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg"?
