I have just downloaded Fedora-18-x86_64-netinst.iso and copied it to a memory stick and also to a CDROM. Booting from the memory stick causes the system to crash; it emits a message saying Try dmesg | tail dracut/ # or something similar. The CDROM just drops back into a reboot, except when run in VGA mode, when it behaves like the memory stick. Now the CDROM can't be removed because it has been opened by nepomukserver: $ lsof | fgrep /media nepomukse 3801 jonrysh 25r DIR 11,0 2048 1856 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64 nepomukse 3801 jonrysh 26r DIR 11,0 2048 2176 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64/EFI QThread 3801 3807 jonrysh 25r DIR 11,0 2048 1856 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64 QThread 3801 3807 jonrysh 26r DIR 11,0 2048 2176 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64/EFI QInotifyF 3801 3809 jonrysh 25r DIR 11,0 2048 1856 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64 QInotifyF 3801 3809 jonrysh 26r DIR 11,0 2048 2176 /media/Fedora 18 x86_64/EFI Killing nepomukserver (process 3801) just gets it opened again by another instance. Any help or advice about either of these troubles will be very welcome. BTW: I have got the CDROM out of the drive by logging out as myself, logging in as root, and then ejecting the drive.
