I suspect that it is because the nvidia proprietary drivers were not updated at the same time as the kernel. I has always been like that but the issue has never been a stop with "Failed to start Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit see 'systemctl status plymouth-quit-wait.service' for details". I will wait till the nvidia are updated for 3.7.7.
