Copying over profiles and mail folders etc from windows to linux won't

Perhaps it's a one-way street. I've done this many times. It's
possible that I originally created my first TBird install in Linux,
and copied that profile over to my Windows box, thus preserving the
Linux case usage. That would explain the fact that copying back from
Windows to Linux works for me - it's the only thing that comes to mind
to explain our different experiences - as I've said a couple of times
in this thread, I've done this many times and it has always worked for
me.
It is possible things were done differently. My specific situation was
that if folders were created in Tbird under linux in the shared mail
folder then they were accessible in Tbird under both environments, but
if the folders were created in Tbird under windows in the shared mail
folder, Tbird under linux listed the folders in its folder list, but
when you clicked on them to display the contents Tbird complained it
couldn't find them, also message filters couldn't move message from the
inbox to the folders for the same reason. To work around it I had to go
into something like dolphin, rename the folders, recreated to original
named folders in linux, then copy the contents back. I learnt very
quickly to only create folders in Linux. We are going to have to same
issue in the development environment at work where we are moving from
windows based servers to Linux based servers.
