Here's what yum info says about it: [root@petard ~]# yum info linux-firmware Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto Installed Packages Name : linux-firmware Arch : noarch Version : 20120925 Release : 0.3.git236367d.fc18 Size : 34 M Repo : installed >From repo : koji-override-0 Summary : Firmware files used by the Linux kernel URL : http://www.kernel.org/ License : GPL+ and GPLv2+ and MIT and Redistributable, no modification permitted Description : Kernel-firmware includes firmware files required for some devices : to operate. Unfortunately, I have the rpmfusion repo enabled so it's possible that I picked this up from there on an update (but I doubt it). Also, I started from the xfce respin CD. I think the repo being koji-override-0 is an artifact of the xfce respin but it could make a difference.
