Burned my F18 image. Booted the DVD once, to run mediacheck. It's fine. Ran fedup --device /dev/sr0 --debuglog fedupdebug.log It ran for a while. Completed without errors. Rebooted, selected "System upgrade" option from grub. The Fedora logo started blinking. The disk activity light blinked happily for no more than five seconds, certainly less than it would take to fully install all the updates, before the laptop suddenly reboots without any error messages.
The "System upgrade" option is gone from the Grub menu. I boot back into Fedora 17, apparently unchanged, and unharmed. I guess it won't be possible for me to upgrade to F18.
