Solved this by using xmodmap to remap the special keys to greek characters, thanks anyway.

Dear all,

I have recently bought a Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard, and would like to bind the special keys to Eclipse macros. The problem is that Eclipse does not seem to recognize any of the keys.

Running showkeys -k works for all the special keys, so the Kernel must see them. From emacs, the "silver" keys 1-5 (for example) are recoghized as XF86Launch5 - XF86Launch9, so I don't really see the problem...why can't Eclipse see them as well? Pressing the keys in the terminal also produces no reaction, so maybe it is a mapping problem?
