I used powerline adapters made by devolo quite a while ago. They worked without any problems in my Linux only network. On the devolo web site you find a Linux program to analyse a Powerline network. http://www.devolo.com/cockpit_linux It should work with any AV standard compatible adapter, but I didn't check. I dismissed powerline because of its miserable performance here.
