He suggests that most people stick with Windows 7 for the time being

I don't expect to be using Win8, let alone Win7 for a year or so. Gives
me more time to get really comfortable with the Tablet-style GUI. Been
at it for about a year now.
Not using Windows myself, I don't know, but I tend to trust his
experience in these things.
I knew Pournelle back in the 70s; never really got to trust him. But he
often does get some things right. :)
