Did you try another PIM application? May be Thunderbird with the calendar extension (Lightning)? Or Evolution which has calendar, tasks, contacts, mail and notes...
Both works fine in KDE.
And I agree with Jarmo, all that Nepomuk / Akonadi thing is awful..
