Hello, noticing since yesterday that when I start evolution my laptop temperature rapidly jumps from 40-45 degrees to 70-75 and I'm forced to stop it. When starting it, without doing anything I see this "top" output sorted by %cpu that explains the jump: Tasks: 166 total, 3 running, 163 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 22.9%us, 5.4%sy, 0.0%ni, 71.1%id, 0.1%wa, 0.3%hi, 0.2%si, 0.0%st Mem: 8080564k total, 1202424k used, 6878140k free, 59200k buffers Swap: 10485756k total, 0k used, 10485756k free, 651400k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 1972 g.cecchi 20 0 1504m 61m 25m S 69.5 0.8 1:05.15 evolution 915 root 20 0 133m 11m 5168 R 40.9 0.1 0:38.84 Xorg 1468 g.cecchi 20 0 1404m 103m 28m S 1.0 1.3 0:05.40 gnome-shell Normally and if I stop evolution, I then get again top - 08:18:31 up 9 min, 1 user, load average: 0.25, 0.34, 0.20 Tasks: 171 total, 3 running, 168 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 1.2%us, 0.8%sy, 0.0%ni, 97.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.3%hi, 0.1%si, 0.0%st Mem: 8080564k total, 1518868k used, 6561696k free, 62272k buffers Swap: 10485756k total, 0k used, 10485756k free, 781328k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 1800 g.cecchi 20 0 643m 14m 9.8m S 2.7 0.2 0:02.47 gnome-terminal 915 root 20 0 135m 13m 5584 R 2.3 0.2 0:48.47 Xorg 2100 g.cecchi 20 0 453m 26m 12m S 2.0 0.3 0:03.23 plugin-containe Latest updates applied are these ones: Sep 11 08:47:10 Updated: libdrm-2.4.37-1.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:10 Updated: glusterfs-3.2.7-2.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:10 Updated: glusterfs-fuse-3.2.7-2.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:10 Updated: xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.20.6-1.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:10 Updated: os-prober-1.55-1.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:11 Updated: yum-3.4.3-29.fc17.noarch Sep 11 08:47:11 Updated: freeglut-2.8.0-7.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:11 Updated: trousers-0.3.9-1.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:11 Updated: kasumi-2.5-9.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:11 Updated: gdb-7.4.50.20120120-50.fc17.x86_64 Sep 11 08:47:12 Updated: libdrm-2.4.37-1.fc17.i686 So I suspect xorg-x11-drv-intel as my system is an Asus U36SD with Intel and nVidia (that is disabled during above tests) But it seems to happen with evolution only... I don't know which kind of interaction could be in place. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 1050 (rev ff) (prog-if ff) Anyone else experiencing this and/or having a bugzilla id already open to post to? Or I'm going to open a new one...
