I should have said that I have SELinux set to permissive, so I don't think the problem lies there. Incidentally, I have exactly the same problem (with the same printer) on two Fedora-17 laptops. Actually, I have a kind of solution. If I install the printer - using a different queue name - using the AppSocket/HP JetDirect protocol instead of http or ipp with the driver foo2qpdl , except that printing is only in black.
