I just switched back to Fedora after an absence of a few years, specifically because of gnome 3, and I'm extremely happy with it, having previously been a gnome 2.x user since it came out.
I'm glad I did switch back because there are tons of other advantages I didn't expect over my previous distro.

I did not say nor do I mean that F17 is a defective version of Linux. Just that it
has a defective Default Desktop Environment.
