You can add the "--installed" option but then it would produce no
output for me since I don't have libmapi installed.

Thanx for bringing repoquery to the foreground.
Interesting that when a packages is installed,
and --whatrequires returns negative, rpm -e
will expose other packages that depend on the
libs a package has installed.
Seems to me that --whatrequires should expose
all types of dependencies.
