If you are looking for the address of the default interface, you can fetch based on the default route. This should work on most systems, as almost all have a default route, and few have more than one. - get the default route entry: ip route list match 0.0.0.0 - get just the device name: ip route list match 0.0.0.0 | sed 's/.* dev \([^ ]*\).*/\1/' - list the address(es) on the default device: ip addr list $(ip route list match 0.0.0.0 | sed 's/.* dev \([^ ]*\).*/\1/') -- Chris Adams <cmadams@xxxxxxxxxx> Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble. -- users mailing list users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question?
