This is F-16/64 updated. I installed "ntop" via yum but can't
get it to run. Well that's not exactly true since I see the
following:
ntop.service - A network traffic probe similar to the UNIX top
command
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ntop.service; enabled)
Active: active (running) since Tue, 20 Mar 2012 12:53:50 -0400;
3h 47min ago
Main PID: 1115 (ntop)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/ntop.service
└ 1115 /usr/sbin/ntop @/etc/ntop.conf
But when I try to run the command "ntop" :
[bobg@box7 ~]$ ntop
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 NOTE: Interface merge enabled
by default
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 Initializing gdbm databases
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 **ERROR** ....open of
/var/lib/ntop/prefsCache.db failed: File open error
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 Possible solution: please use
'-P <directory>'
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 **FATAL_ERROR** GDBM open
failed, ntop shutting down...
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 CLEANUP[t140273248205120]: ntop
caught signal 2 [state=2]
Tue Mar 20 16:37:52 2012 ntop is now quitting...
I messed with the permissions a little to no avail:
[bobg@box7 ~]$ ll /var/lib/ntop/prefsCache.db
-rw-rw----. 1 root root 13191 Mar 20 12:53
/var/lib/ntop/prefsCache.db
I can su to root but it does not make any difference. I haven't
had much luck with google searches.
Any suggestions welcome.
