I have the same installation.
check the 2 sound apps.
In the app search bar type sound and you will see the 2 apps. One is
to set the driver to the correct input and output and set the volume and
the other allows you to record and playback as a test that all is
working ok.

I still have Fedora 13 installed. I use this for skype - both mic and
video work for me - though I have x32
alias skype='LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /usr/bin/skype'
does this help?
