    Do you really need to use avahi? I always disable it myself, one
    less thing to break.

The problem must be specific to the E4200 or sum other subset of Linksys routers. I was still distressed by the Windows only response from CISCO support. On Amazon, the wrt120n is $43.95. The E4200 is $140.99. I guess you don't get what you pay for:-)
