Is this a true statement as for Fedora 16 ? does cups look at
/usr/libexec/cups/filter ? Instead of /usr/lib/cups/filter?
I can't say for sure about F16 but I do know that I've had trouble
with the Samsung installer failing to install it's filters under root
ownership. Check on that before going to heroic efforts to solve
whatever problems you may be having.
When i install Samsung driver I do a su - in terminal.
rasterbtosamsungsplc is shown as being own by root.
All I can get is a /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertosamsungsplc failed , the
printer is being detected on network or usb:// but all I get is
/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertosamsungsplc failed , when I try to print
There surely is something different in Fedora 16 ,because I used this
same Samsung driver in Fedora 13, 14, 15 and there is no updated driver
on Samsung driver website. for the CLX3175FN , the driver is CLX3170
series.
I sent the error log to Samsung and they ack. they received it, but no
updates.
One more thing. Have you tried to install your printer directly through
the print manager? That's how I installed my Samsung ML-1740 this last
time I did a clean install. I used the the Samsung installer in the past.
