I have two hard drives, only one available sata connection. F-15 on the first drive has sound and works as expected with that drive plugged in. The new install of F-16 on the second drive has no sound, Alsa reports "no available device." As near as I can tell Pulseaudio is working but simply does not "see" the sound circuit, part of the motherboard. PAVC can only select "Dummy Output" in both the input and output device tabs. "Configuration" reports "No cards available for configuration." Can anyone help me troubleshoot this, I've been messing with this problem for a while and it always comes back to the "no available device" problem. I can apply inputs but get nothing out. Bob
Running "alsa-info.sh" on both the working F-15 system and the not working F-16 system produces an output with a large amount of data missing in this area as below: !!Aplay/Arecord output !!------------ APLAY aplay: device_list:240: no soundcards found... ARECORD arecord: device_list:240: no soundcards found... !!Amixer output !!------------- !!-------Mixer controls for card 0 [ICH6] Invalid card number. Usage: amixer <options> [command] On the working system this data fills a couple of screens. Obviously the sound circuit is not being detected. The difference between the two systems is simply the operating system on the hard drive "plugged-in" F-15/32 works, F-16/64 does not work and pulse audio shows "no card available."
