Re: mouse and keyboard locking up [Solved - card reader was culprit]

No one responded on this, but, in case someone else has similar problems. The issue was caused by a card reader with three or four different slots in it for various sized cards, plus a USB port. Unplugging if from the machine has cured the problem.

My Fedora box is on an IOGear KVM. It's always been completely reliable.
In the recent past, maybe after I preupgraded from F15-F16 recently, I
found that switching from the Fedora machine to a different computer
would result in a totally non-responsive mouse and keyboard when I went
back to the Fedora machine, even if I'm only off for a few seconds. This
delay lasts for around 1-2 minutes. Then, it returns and remains fine
till I switch computers again. Here's partial readout from
/var/log/messages as I switch to a different machine, then immediately
switch back. You can see the disconnect, then the recognition of my MS
mouse and Keytronic keyboard as I bring the machine into focus again in
those first few lines - the final two lines are actually followed by
around 30 or more similar ones in the log and seem to indicate USB
related timeouts - it's looking and not finding something which I assume
is causing the long delay - anyone got an idea of what I can do to fix
this?
