At the moment it also shows users that have logged in via SSH. I've filed a bug for this: 757051 For those that are interested, here's a quick summary of how I've come to terms with this: I tried GDM (standard), KDM, and GDM (fallback). Here's what I see as their good and bad points: GDM (standard) Good: Looks good* without configuration, is default**, provides accessibility options Bad: Unconfigurable, shows SSH users in user list KDM Good: Configurable (very), remembers which user logged in to it last Bad: Needs a lot of tweaking to look good*, non-default** GDM (fallback) Good: Looks good* without configuration, configurable (somewhat)*** Bad: doesn't remember which user logged in to it last, no accessibility options * In my opinion ** Using non-default components often exposes bugs *** At least you can turn off the user list In my case, I've decided to use GDM fallback mode. The only downsides are that it doesn't remember which user logged on to it last so the user always has to type their username (not a big deal), and that it doesn't provide accessibility options. I don't have time to make KDM look as good as GDM does (note, I have a gnome background slideshow that I need to use as the login screen background). This bug report describes how to use GDM fallback mode: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753447 - thanks Anders! When GDM (standard mode) is fixed either with the option to disable the user list or to exclude SSH users (my ideal) I'll switch to it.
