It isn't deprecated in any of the docs I can find, and going through
the .conf file line by line and looking up the description of the
parameters shows that it should indeed still be
doing what I want it to do.

It acts a great deal like the user I gave it to run as isn't
actually the user it is using. If I chmod the directory I
want to modify to 777 instead of 755, then the deletes work.

I have filed this bug since it sure seems like it ought
to be working the same way it always did according to
the docs.
