As a quick experiment, try

rsync -avzP \
dl.fedoraproject.org::fedora-linux-releases/16/\
Fedora/i386/iso/Fedora-16-i386-DVD.iso .

(note the . at the end) to download the i386 DVD ISO (or substitute x86_64). I'm
curious to know what happens.
