E.g. $ rpm -qi tix | grep Epoch Epoch : 1 $ rpm -q --qf %{epoch}\\n tix 1 Omit it when querying RPM. Run just rpm -V tk-8.5.9-2.fc14.i686 tix-8.4.3-5.fc13.i686 numpy-1.4.1-6.fc14.i686 or leave out the version-release.arch part.
