Yup - my memory too! I wonder if adding a repo=cdrom:/dev/.... to the boot options would refer it back to the DVD? Or maybe copying the DVD install iso to a partition that was not going to be used in the install - in this case I had formatted the entire HD before starting the install so that it was effectively a clean disk.
