I've had minimal luck with digital cameras and computers, on any OS. The hardware seems crap, and as for adhering to standards, or finding the right codec... I work in video production, and I loathe digital video. The domestic side of it is worse than the professional. The simplest solution I've found for converting video is a DVD/HDD video recorder.
