I upgraded F15 from F14 through yum and I faced the same issue where,
the booting was stuck at "Started SYSV: Late init script for live
image" after upgrading.
I had kmod-nvidia libraries previously which are not present for the
latest kernel in F15.
What I did was to go to single user mode - I think I did this by doing
ctrl+alt+F1 (not sure) when the boot gets stuck.
removed all kmod packages. and installed akmod packages through command line.
That did the trick.
