That I would guess is because the kernel I am running 2.6.35.13-91.fc14.i686.PAE does not have a pcspkr module associated with it. What kernel are you'all running? The reason there is such module is because for some reason: kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.35.12-91.fc14.i686 is not available in the repos.
