FWIW, and for the archives, the nvidia kmod driver doesn't show the 'acorn thingy' on boot, but a set of text-mode bars at the bottom of the screen, at least on my F14 boxk, a Dell Precision M65 with an nVidia Quadro FX 350M. Secondly, do make sure that when you get a kernel update you also get the corresponding kmod update for nvidia if you have an nvidia card.
