If you receive an infected document and then pass it on to an unsuspecting Windows user, you could become an agent for infection. Perhaps the Windows user treats data coming from you (a Linux user) with a little more relaxed attitude, since the Windows user "knows" no infections can come from a Linux user. In general, using safe data practices is the responsible thing to do. Scan information you get from other sources, and scan your information before releasing it to the wild.
