Openoffice.org codebase is not under GPL but even in that case,
different vendors have different considerations.  For instance, one
vendor can knowingly infringe on some other vendor's patents because
they have a good patent portfolio and can always use that a defensive
shield.  There will be no lawsuits and no patent license.  Just a
partnership with a arrangement not to sue each other or their customers.
