In KDE, go to: systemsettings -> startup and shutdown -> session management -> on login -> applications to be excluded from sessions Type "skype" (without quotes) in the appropriate field. It should be excluded next time you login. Btw, this has absolutely nothing to do with /etc/rc.d/. The rc.d scripts are for system services that should be started up on boot, and work independently of any users on the system. OTOH, the KDE session is a per-user thing, when KDE reactivates all apps that you were running at the moment of last logout. This "session restoring" happens only after you are logged in, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the system boot.
