You see, in my case, it is not that i8k.ko module are failing reporting an error. In my case i8k.ko module cannot be found at all in the location it DOES exists. For me the most puzzling is the output of modprobe command. Which looks for the i8k.ko module not in the indicated directory but in not existing one instead.
