Please can you provide more info? IT was working before? php and mysql versions, packages installed? when mysql stops working with php? after any update?

phpinfo() is working and showing MySQL.

 

When I try to connect to it I get the following error :-

    Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)

Have have done a 'service mysqld start' and the 'mysql' command line looks fine.
