If it's not possible to configure Terminal with the changes I'd like
to make, then an alternative would be welcomed.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that application. It does look like there is
an option in there to specify a custom bell file.

Considering I spend the majority of my time connected to remote
systems for administration, it would sure save me some time if I could
figure out why even cut-and-paste aren't working the way I would
expect.
