The converter that I bought also has a external power chord which I've attached to the hard disk as well. This is all the info I got. At this time, only one of my USB ports is in use. [root@070905042 ~]# fdisk /dev/sdb Unable to read /dev/sdb Some one enquired if I had a PCI slot. I'm not sure. My laptop is an HP dv6226tx[1]. I don't think it has one. The hard disk is pretty old. It doesn't have any warranty. If it isn't worth the trouble, I can purchase a new one. I just want to be sure I can use this SATA to USB converter thing to access the HDD drives.
