I tried changing the order as Sam suggested: [sam@samlap ~ ]$ sudo chkconfig --del NetworkManager [sam@samlap ~ ]$ sudo chkconfig --add NetworkManager [sam@samlap ~ ]$ sudo chkconfig NetworkManager on [sam@samlap ~ ]$ ls /etc/rc5.d/S*NetworkManager and it's still happening.
