broken maxima: fatal error encountered in SBCL

Dear users!
Recently maxima/XMaxima/wxMaxima got broken on my machine with the
following message when started from terminal:
$ maxima
fatal error encountered in SBCL pid 15897(tid 3086857920):
can't load .core for different runtime, sorry

It worked just fine about a few days ago. Could anybody help me with
it? How do I fix it?
Now I'm stuck using maxima in windoze xp on VirtualBox and it's
terrible slow :- (
