I am a huge fan of Thinkpads. We have seven in our office, from T21s
up to W700s. They are rugged, reliable and reasonably priced. And they
have the little eraser-heads, which my partner absolutely requires of
her machines. We keep several of the machines around as scratch
machines for testing and short projects, even though they are 5+ years
old. I've replaced/upgraded a few hdds, added some RAM, but generally
the machines have been workhorses.

Being a frugal Yankee, I get the TPs from the Lenovo outlet,
http://outlet.lenovo.com/, which seems to be down today. Great deals
on lightly-used machines, recent vintage, and a short warranty (90
days, maybe?).
