I have a pile of old CDs, burned without zero padding years ago, which
disagree with you.  For example, see

which I reported 4 years ago and is still unresolved (and Alan Cox, who
probably knows more about the readahead bug than either of us, has
looked at it, so there's nothing obviously wrong with my report).  The
effect of the readahead bug is to prevent the last few dozen KB of the
ISO from being read.  I've done plenty of experiments.
