I certainly wish all the new evdev stuff had allowed treating
mouse buttons as keys and vice-versa, but as near as I can tell
there is still this complete divider between keyboards and
mice even though they both have buttons on them :-(.

There might be some higher level tools based on some of the
accessibility settings that could do it, but I don't know for
sure.

I've always wanted to take some of the useless excess keys
and define them as things like double-click (which would
be a lot more reliable than actually double clicking :-).
