Some router (like mine) has a different ip (192.168.1.254)

To discover your router's ip :

$ route

or

Discover all active ip on your network using nmap:
$ nmap -sP 192.168.1.1-254

NB:
Some router has a firewall that block ICMP traffic (pings)
