It has worked well for various fedora releases including F11, always using ifup/ifdown rather than network manager. I decided to try network manager after I'd installed F11 and saw behavior similar to what you see - the wireless link would disconnect every minute or so (the nm icon would change from 5 bars to chasing teardrops), then it would reconnect automatically and so on. I reverted to ifup/ifdown and the problem went away. I've read elsewhere that network manager tests parts of the wireless drivers that ifup/ifdown doesn't, so the bug is really in the driver. however the quick fix for me was to disable network manager. YMMV of course (and as a side note network manager has always worked flawlessly on my AA1, running linpus - F8 based).
