i've complained a number of times on the fedora-test list about how excruciatingly slow firefox was (top sometimes showing it taking >100% of the CPU). and just now, it was *again* over 100% when the next process was using, like 3%. so i tossed the 64-bit flash plugin, and restarted firefox, and top now shows that it's sitting nicely at around 4%. i restore the plugin (to ~/.mozilla/plugins), and restart firefox, and CPU is back up to 89% already. it's that freaking plugin that's causing all this grief. thoughts? with that plugin installed, firefox immediately starts sucking up CPU even when i'm not playing anything. it looks like there simply has to be a flash embedded in a displayed page for this to happen. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
