Hi!
I checked the MTU and it says 1500, I changed it and now the speed
test is better than the last time (~700kbit/s up, 700kbit/s down). But
still they are not the same or close to the Windows speeds....

Here's the output from iwconfig and ifconfig before changing the MTU.:

[phil@hekate ~]$ ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:D2:3C:A0:43

How can I check this? I haven't seen a service of that name or any
process ... I do know its the protocol for setting up router / server
less networks, but I have to admit that I have yet to use it.

By the way: something caught my eye when I looked at that output:
Whenever I have the bad performance, my connection strentrgh
(according to NM-applet) dropes to ~50%. I don't know if this is
relevant or not, but I thought, I'd mention it.

Thank you very much for your help!

Cheers
