Can you explain in more detail how you are connecting from from one machine to the other? You say "machine A contains our home directories and the 530 is not machine A". How do you connect from the "530" to "machine A"? Is it an SSH connection or something else? Please explain how you make the connection, maybe it will help to understand the problem.
