You could use the --time-style option to specify any format you wanted
or you could set LC_TIME=C, which will get you the POSIX locale
format, which is like your latter example.

It's also worth noting that Fedora 7 is no longer supported and has
not recieved any updates for quite some time.  Using it leaves you
exposed to many security bugs.
