Initially, it will ask you to authenticate as root. After that, you get to create IDs and passwords for others, and assign permissions to them. You can do this at the server and individual VM level (among other things). Also, selinux doesn't get along with VMware Server 2.0 (just like 1.X), so make sure it's disabled. Permissive mode still will kill it. Next, you no longer will need the VMware Server Console application. Go ahead and uninstall that if you have no more 1.x servers around. The new console is accessed through a browser extension that's installed on demand in Firefox. Overall, VMware Server 2.0 is a really, really nice upgrade. I think you'll like it a lot.
