that shown in the help file and I am stymied.

My /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf file has me authed for everything.

Hi Waleed,

Sound card is Intel Corp 82801H (ICH Family) HD Audio Controller (Rev 03)

/usr/bin/alsamixer gives 'No mixer elems found'.

Also, clicking on the volume contrtol gives the following:

The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu.

All the gstreamer packages that came with F9 are installed:

gstreamer-0.10.19-1.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.19-2.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreamer-plugins-flumpegdemux-0.10.15-2.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreagstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.8-7.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreamer-plugins-pulse-0.9.5-0.5.svn20070924.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreamer-python-0.10.11-2.fc9.i386.rpm
gstreamer-tools-0.10.19-1.fc9.i386.rpm

This seems to indicate that no sound card has been configured. Fair enough.

dmesg says that the sound card has been found. dmesg | grep sound shows the following:
